What is the Stygian Collective?

The Stygian Collective is an exclusive worldwide community of metal and dark fusion dancers rooted in the style created by Shyama and the Stygian Sisters Metal Belly Dance Troupe. Shyama’s goal in creating the Stygian Collective is to foster community, spark inspiration, and provide instruction to metal and dark fusion dancers of the world.

All levels are welcome! If you have a passion for dance and metal or dark music, you will fit right in. By sharing and learning together through Shyama’s Online Studio, the Collective creates a cohesive, troupe-like experience for like-minded dancers-- whoever and wherever they may be!

Who Can Join?

Anyone is welcome! Whether you have no previous belly dance experience or you’re an advanced dancer, you have a place with us. Shyama’s online studio offers many instructional materials for all levels, plus instruction in our specific style. Our tight-knit and supportive community has many ways to collaborate, share, and grow--including choreography projects, live online classes, performance opportunities, discussion groups, meet-ups, and so much more!

Requirements for Membership

Aside from your Membership Fees, we do ask that you do your best to promote the Stygian Collective and its individual members in your dance life. We ask that you boost the community by sharing Collective posts, events, and information as often as you can, referring your friends near and far, attending each others events, and broadly supporting the Collective and its members.

We also require all members to go about their dance business in a professional and respectful manner. We do not tolerate hateful or disrespectful speech or actions while under the Stygian Collective’s name. We do not tolerate discrimination in gender, sexual orientation, race, or ethnicity. What you do as an individual reflects on the whole Collective. Abuse and disrespect will result in expulsion from the Collective.

Membership Fees

Your Membership for all the above perks is either $30/month or $300/year (annual memberships get 2 months free!)

Membership Fees: How Are Funds Used?

Membership fees will go toward administrative management as well as improving the online studio--and therefore the content you can access. Fees will also be used for promotional purposes like advertising the Stygian Collective, promoting events on Facebook, etc. As the Collective grows, fees will be used for costs associated with meet ups and further events.

About Shyama

Stygian Dance is the overarching business created by Shyama, the Director and Founder of the Stygian Sisters and Stygian Collective. Currently located in the Greater St. Louis area, Shyama performs and teaches throughout the Midwest in addition to offering her online studio. The Stygian Sisters and Stygian Collective were born of her passions in metal, dark culture, and fusion belly dance. Since her original troupe’s inception, it has been her dream to grow the dance form of Metal Fusion and unleash it upon the world...and with your help, the Stygian Collective can do just that.
