Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Stygian Dance and the Stygian Collective?

Stygian Dance is the overall business venture founded by Daewen. The Stygian Collective is a membership program within Stygian Dance that includes access to the online studio, a private community, special events, bonus content, and so much more!

Learn all about the Stygian Collective on our Memberships Page!

Do I have to be in Illinois/the USA to join?

NO! We are a global collective! Our members are everywhere. We operate primarily online, but the more we grow, the more opportunities we have to meet up in person and perform together locally.

Join us with your friends!

How do I use the online studio?

You can either become a member for content access, or purchase content on demand. Once you join or purchase, you will sign up for an account in our Portal. Then, you'll log in at portal.stygian.dance, and view your content under "Courses." There you can sort your content or search to find what you need!

Videos can be watched anywhere you have internet access! Easily watch on your phone or tablet using our app too! Just search the app store for "GoKollab" and sign in.

Members will also receive a Quickstart Guide that explains everything you need to know :)

How can I perform in Stygian shows?

Our quarterly Stygian shows only include Stygian Collective members, so you must become a member to participate.

Weekend festivals like Ascension and The Descent have open applications for performers (and instructors). Application links will be on the festival's page!

What are the opportunities for collaboration in the Stygian Collective?

Opportunities and ideas are endless! Here's a few examples of what our members have collaborated on before: choreography creation, duet/trio video productions, practice accountability, wellness check ins, participation in each other's shows and classes, and more!

Are live events recorded?

YES! Almost everything we host is recorded and made available for all registrants. Any exceptions are clearly noted in the event description (for instance, Dance As Catharsis workshops are not recorded due to the personal nature of content).

I purchased a virtual show. How do I access it?

You will receive several emails leading up to the show with the Zoom link included. Please make sure to add [email protected] to your contacts so you don't miss it!

You will also gain access to show recordings for one month. These recordings will be shared from Zoom.

Do you offer Certification?

Yes! Stygian Certification is available in three levels: Emerge, Engage, and Evolve. Visit the Certification page to purchase the Certification program you're looking for! The program will provide you with the instructions to meet with Daewen, complete certification assignments, and more.

Do you offer in-person classes?

Sometimes, yes. Any opportunities will be listed on our Events page.

Additionally, Daewen (and other members) are open for booking! Contact us at [email protected] if you would like to see us at a local event!

If I join the Stygian Collective, do I have to like metal music?

Nope! While metal is my preferred way of expressing creativity and passion, the Stygian Collective values authenticity above all. You don’t need to conform to a specific taste; what matters is that you bring your true self to the table. Whether you vibe with industrial, classical, punk, or anything else, we welcome you with open arms! Your unique perspective is what will enrich our community.

How do I cancel a membership?

Please email me at [email protected] to cancel any membership. At this time, the Portal does not have a function to cancel yourself.
