About Your Instructor

Daewen is the founder of the Stygian Collective and the pioneer of Metal Fusion dance—a dark, powerful blend of heavy music and fusion belly dance. Drawing inspiration from heavy music, strong emotions, strength, mythology, horror, fantasy, magic, and her mentors, she’s carved a niche in the fusion world as both a performer and instructor. Since 2020, Daewen has built a thriving international dance community, producing online festivals, leading workshops, and offering a comprehensive Stygian Certification Program for dancers of all levels. With a background in psychology, coaching, and rune divination, she combines technical expertise, emotional depth, magickal flair, and a passion for personal growth to support dancers both on and off the stage. Known as “Mama Stygian,” Daewen balances her dark, powerful performances with warmth, humor, and a deep commitment to community.

Datura Style is a dance style and technique approach developed by Rachel Brice that is heavily influenced by FatChanceBellyDance, along with other styles of dance. In this workshop, Bonnie will guide you through a series of timed steps and arrhythmic moves from Datura Style vocabulary that focus on big, slow, gooey movements that can be incorporated into choreography or group improvisation. Each move will be broken down and drilled, and then strung together into an improvisational flow drill.

This workshop is ideal for upper beginner/intermediate level dancers who want to go beyond the basics and learn some unusual stylizations.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

🔥Datura Style Vocabulary, including the Twisting Mardi, Weird Water Snake, Jewel Scale, Cab Maya, Sidewinder, Side undulation, Queen of the Damned, and more!

🔥Combine these movements into an improv drill

Levels: This workshop is ideal for upper beginner/intermediate level dancers who want to go beyond the basics and learn some unusual stylizations.

About Your Instructor

Bonnie Belle is a fusion belly dance performer, instructor and choreographer from the Greater St. Louis area, and has been performing in small local events and online spaces since 2014. She is best known for her supreme shimmies, magnetic mermaid-like hipwork, seductive swordwork, and her sweet, sultry, and sassy demeanor.

She is a graduate of Rachel Brice's 8 Elements and a certified Datura Style teacher, the first in her home state of Missouri. She is also a graduate of April Rose's Dance Cohesion and a certified Level 2 Technician in Belladonna's Bohemian Blade program.

Not wanting to pigeonhole herself into just one style, she instead draws from her experiences in such styles as Datura Style, FCBD style, Raqs Sharqi, and Old School AmCab to create a style and presence that's all her own. She brings a sense of grace and regality to her performances that is sure to lure you in like a siren with her song.

Her teaching style has been described as direct and detail-oriented, but still warm, and encouraging. She invites people of all walks of life to delve into this art form and have fun in the process.
