About Your Instructor

Lauren Zehara fell in love with belly dance at first and has been a devoted fan, performer, and instructor for 25 years.

Although she started late (at 35), she’s had the honor of a career that spanned half the globe — from teaching at the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive to working on a cruise ship out of Dubai.

But most of her career was spent right here in St. Louis, where she performed all over the city, owned two dance and yoga studios, and created several troupes. She’s currently the artistic director of Dance Hipnotíque.

Lauren brings her anatomy background as a kinesiology major, registered yoga teacher, and ACE certified fitness instructor to help break things down and teach precise technique.

As a teacher, her goal is to create a judgment-free community that encourages people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities to find joy in movement and expression.
